Stefano Traverso was born in Savigliano (Italy) on October 8, 1984. He graduated from Politecnico di Torino in Networking Engineering in November 2008 with the thesis "Design and Implementation of an Integrated Simulator for P2P Video-streaming Application Performance Evaluation".

In January 2009, he joined the TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORKS GROUP at the Dipartimento di Elettronica of Politecnico di Torino as a Ph.D. student under the supervision of Prof. Marco Mellia.

Since September 2010 to April 2011 he had an internship at Telefonica I+D research center in Barcelona, Spain, where he worked with Nikos Laoutarisand Vijay Erramilli.

Since September 2012 to November 2012 he had been visiting NEC Laboratories Europe, Heidelberg, Germany, where he worked with Mohamed Ahmed and Saverio Niccolini. 

He participated in the European STREP project NAPA-WINE: Network Aware Peer-to-peer Application over WIse NEtworks.

He is currently involved in the European IP project mPlane: an Intelligent Measurement Plane fo Future Network and Application Management.
