CURRICULUM

Guido Alejandro Gavilanes Castillo, Born in Popayan (Colombia) on 1979, graduated from the Universidad del Cauca Universidad del Cauca (Colombia) in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in May 2002.

During the last year of his studies was member of Telematics Engineering R+D Group, of Universidad del Cauca and Directed Faculty's IEEE student Branch as IEEE member.

Integrated network monitoring tools as Network Monitoring Engineer; Worked on Processes Automation and Research in network operation for various IT and network infrastructures at Sun Gemini S.A.(Until August 2005).

Received his Second level Master Degree in September 2006 on Optical Communication and Photonic Technologies from Politecnico di Torino being awarded with an ALPIP project grant. During the period November-December in 2006, he studied the use of Optical Technologies in Switching Devices, Telecommunication Networks Group, Politecnico di Torino, with a scholarship.

In November 2010 he obtained his PhD degree working with the Telecommunication Networks Group, Politecnico di Torino, Tutored by Prof. Fabio Neri. His final PhD thesis dissertation was on The Role of Optical Technologies in Future High Capacity Switching Devices.
