CURRICULUM

Robert Birke was born in Munich (Germany) on May 9th, 1980. He graduated from Politecnico di Torino with summa cum laude degree in Information Engineering in September 2005.

Between October and December 2005 he was with Top-IX, working about passive traffic analysis of multimedia streams.

Since January 2006, he has been with the Dipartimento di Elettronica of Politecnico di Torino as a PhD student.

Within the India-Italy bilateral scientific collaboration he spent two months (November and December 2006) at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India on a joint research project about Software Routers.

During 2007 he worked at the IBM Zurich Research Laboratory, Zurich working on QoS in Ethernet and the upcoming IEEE 802.1Qau standard for congestion notification. This work has been resumed in a patent request called "CLOSED LOOP FEEDBACK METHOD FOR LOAD CHANGE DETECTION".

In the past years he participated in 3 different national research projects (Bora-Bora, Mimosa and Recipe) and 2 European networks of excellence (Euro-NGI and Euro-NF).

Currently he is working as on the European Napa-Wine project about P2P television.

He acquired his PhD title in February 2009.

Robert Birke is a IEEE member.
