Ana Paula Couto da Silva was born in Três Rios, Rio de Janeiro - Brazil, on 18/05/1977. She graduated from Federal University of Juiz de Fora in 1999 as a Computer Science major. In 2001 she received the M.Sc. degree from the System Engineering and Computer Science Program of COPPE/UFRJ - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and in 2006 she received the Ph.D degree at the same departament.

From March 1999 to April 2007 she was member of LAND (Laboratory for Modeling, Analysis and Development of Networks and Computer System).

She was a Visiting PhD Student starting from february 2005 to december 2005 at the IRISA/INRIA, Rennes - France, where she worked with Gerardo Rubino.

From April to September 2007 she visited the IRISA/INRIA, working with Gerardo Rubino at ARMOR Project.

During 2008 she was with Dipartimento di Elettronica e Telecomunicazioni at Politecnico di Torino as Post-Doc Researcher. Since February 2009, she is with Computer Science Departament at Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Brazil, as Assistant Professor.
